As a graphic communications major at the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire, my capstone class involved working with a community partner to redesign their brand. We worked in teams of six to generate teamwork skills for future endeavors involving design teams. We worked on these elements for approximately six weeks of our course, with a final presentation to our client at the end of the class.
We are proud and excited to say that the county plans to implement these designs into their department branding.
We generated a new logo for the company that represented inclusivity, outreach, support and care for the community. When speaking with the client before designing, these were some of the most important attributes they wanted to be developed.
I myself was in charge of numerous brochures and developing and organizing the information to be more interesting and easy to read. From there, we all began to match designs and collaborate to make everything look cohesive.
In conclusion, working in a group setting was extremely effective for development as a designer. I have a better understanding of how a design team would operate and I now am able to collaborate in a methodical and intentional manner when working with other designers.
